Life itself is a creative process which relies on metaphor, imagination and creativity to heal wounds and restore faith
A therapeutic theater event consisting of performance, debriefing and comprehensive workshops designed to inspire and encourage healing for at-risk underserved women and girls plagued by histories of childhood trauma, neglect, and abuse. To coordinate a Sistah Tribe - Phoenix Project Event contact Rev. Heller / sheri@sheritherapist.com
The play, LET THE PHOENIX RISE! authored by Sheri Heller & Laura Gosheff, is based on the true stories of four teenage girls and their triumph over adversity.  LTPR! was written for women and girls who have been victimized, heart-broken, and scarred; who have lived with violence, adversity, rejection, pain, loneliness, and neglect. For those of us who have struggled with harrowing histories characterized by trauma, neglect and abuse, we call on the power of the Phoenix to remind us of that fire within us that burns for truth and lights the way.  She reminds of us hope that will not perish, and those magical, inviolate parts of ourselves that cannot be destroyed.
  • LTPR! was brought to girls from Phoenix House Substance Abuse Residential Program and girls in foster care at the Center Stage Theater.
  • A performance at The Producers Club took place with the endorsement from the organization GEMS, allowing Sistah Tribe to share LTPR with the girls they mentor.
  • At the invitation of Dr. Tina Maschi, Asst. Professor at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, excerpts of LTPR were presented at their Sept.24, 2011 “Be the Evidence Project” forum on the use of arts for individual and social change.
  • Numerous staged readings have been performed of LTPR! at the Gene Frankel Theater, Players Theater loft and the Kraine Theater throughout 2012 to April 2013.
  • Due to the generous gifting of rehearsal and performance space from Judson Church's Minister of arts, Micah Bucey, a staged reading of LTPR! directed by Jessi D. Hill and featuring Bonnie Jones, Ashley Romans, Christina Toth, Giada Hansen, and Skyler Volpe was brought to Judson Memorial Church Assembly Hall Jan. 11, 2014.

In conjunction with  LTPR! a comprehensive workshop for women and girls serves as a catalyst for healing and self reclamation. Workshop participants are guided to give creative expression to their traumatic histories and find creative solutions to life’s conflicts.  Through psychological, spiritual, and creative exploration  sources of oppression are challenged, so that a deeper sense of purpose and conviction of self-worth and power results.

Comprehensive Phoenix Project creative arts workshops occurred @ Theater Row Studios in NYC, which resulted in a stage-worthy performance of the narratives and prose written in the workshop process. Dubbed The Atomic Butterflies, the workshop women performed their theatrical pieces as an opening act for LTPR! at the Kraine Theater in NYC.
